HeatherClan Book: Chapter 19

Chapter: 19

When they arrived at CloudClan they headed straight to the nursery, after consulting with Dawnstar for her opinion. She had suspected that one of the kits were different than the rest.

At the nursery, Silverstar and Lightningstar asked Morningfur ("HeatherClan intruders! Attack!" squeaked a golden-brown kit), but her kits had bright blue eyes.

Then they asked Honeyleaf, but her kit had brown eyes.

Next, the leaders asked Birdwing and Firepelt ("Get out of our territory, you mangy trespassers!"), but their kits had black eyes.

Finally, they asked for Dawnstar's own kit. She willingly showed the band of cats her only kit, Crystalkit.

She had a glistening pelt with orange and yellow eyes. She was very big for a kit. They brought her over to the other two. While play fighting, Crystalkit foresaw Runningkit's moves and dodged them easily.

"That kit can read minds!" screeched Firepelt, who was watching nearby.

After much persuasion, Crystalkit's Clanmates finally accepted, and admitted, that the kit was special.

Next, the two leaders, joined with Dawnstar, trekked to WaveClan.

The kit there was called was called Dewkit. She had white fur and blue, pale eyes.

Her mother, Pondpelt, reported that she could breathe underwater.

After much testing, they proved this correct.

Last they bounded to NightClan with the WaveClan leader.

The kit was Shadowkit. She was small with a black pelt and black and green eyes.

When she was first born, she flickered, then disappeared in thin air! Her parents were devastated, but she then reappeared again.

After much testing and arguing the cats decided that she could turn invisible at will.

The band then gathered all the special kittens, their parents and their Clan leaders for a meeting. At last, they decided that the kits should mentored by leaders of their Clan every day for one hour.

"So, Birdkit will be mentored by Silverstar, Shadowkit by Darkstar, Runningkit by Lightningstar, Dovekit by Stormstar, and Crystalkit by me?" asked Dawnstar.

"Yes, although it is breaking the warrior code, I'm sure Starclan would approve of our decision. Let us all go in peace and may StarClan be with all of you and your Clans," growled Darkstar unwillingly. All the cats trudged home, discussing their new plans.
